IC Information:
Name: Pharos | Phillip Santorini
Canon: Persona 3 (specifically the fem!PC track)
Age: The age of the entity that makes up Pharos is not entirely clear, but existed as Pharos for 10 years. Will be 10 in game.
Preincarnation Appearance: http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110313094449/megamitensei/images/thumb/0/06/P3-Pharos1.jpg/150px-P3-Pharos1.jpg
Any differences: He doesn’t wear those clothes and isn’t as pale (he actually gets outside now!!)
Preincarnated History:
Once upon a time, there was a world filled with creatures called Shadows. Some nut got the idea to bring them together in hopes of harnassing their power. Many believed that he wanted to use them to create some great machine, but what he really wanted was to bring about Death, to summon the end of the world. One of the scientists working under him found out and sabotaged the experiment, seperating the Shadow into 13 different parts, each representing one of the major arcana. As his final act, he left a message pleading for the future not to destroy these Shadows, because doing so would cause them to combine and create Death once again.

The thirteenth of the seperate arcana, a weakened Death, was confronted by the last remaining anti-Shadow unit, Aigis. Unable to defeat him, the only thing she could think to do was seal him inside the nearest living thing- a young girl.

He rested, unknown, inside the girl for many years. During this time, he subconciously lead her back to Port Island, but was also influenced by her and developed a human form, and a basic understanding of human emotions. Ten years later, when she had returned to Port Island, she walked into her new dorm to see a young boy with dark hair and bright blue eyes, offering her a contract.

Over the course of the next few months, the boy appears in the girl’s room during the Dark Hour (the hour of time between one day and the next), often talking to her about ‘ordeals’ (the coming of the next full moon, and it’s accompanying boss fight), as well as referring to ‘the Fall,’ which he admits to not entirely knowing everything about. After ever major shadow is defeated, the boy regains more and more of his memory, eventually telling the PC that his name is Pharos, and requesting she be his friend, thus forging the Death social link. By the time the last arcana has been defeated, Pharos remembers his role and bids the PC a final farewell, telling her he will always remember and cherish their conversations.
Reincarnated History
Phillip is a second child in a very normal family. His mother is a lawyer, his father is a self-employed web designer, and his older sister, Alexandria, is just starting high school. Phillip is about to enter the fourth grade. They live comfortably with the subarbs and have a golden retriever.

He’s grown up in Locke City, attending the local public schools and all that jazz. Phillip is a pretty average student. He’s not in any of the specialty classes, but he’s not falling behind either, though he really doesn’t like to do his homework. In class, he’s usually pretty good at not interuppting the teacher, but occasionally he’ll get really interested in a topic and ask a thousand questions that completely derail the class. He doesn’t have much trouble making friends with his classmates, and will often try and talk to quiet ones to figure out why they’re quiet.

When he was a little younger, Phillip tried a lot of different after school activities. His two favorites wound up being soccer and theater, so his parents signed him up for a soccer team and a local after-school workshop type thing that had kids perform simple plays. This earned him a bit of teasing from his teammates whenever anything acting related interferred with soccer, which upsets him a lot since he doesn’t want to choose, but for the most part he’s fast enough on the field to avoid getting picked on. His life has been pretty uneventful... until now.
First Echo: Canon reoccurance- he went to go visit his sister in the middle of the night to tell her something, and had an Echo of him sitting on another older girl’s bed.
Preincarnation Personality:
Pharos, for all intents and purposes, is a small, creepy child. At the beginning, he hardly remembers anything about who he is, but he has an awareness and understanding of anything included in the Dark Hour. Because he’s not really human, not to mention what he actually is, Pharos has little trouble discussing death, and even admits that before knowing the PC, he never considered it to be a problem. He’s very fatalistic, believing that death and the Fall are both inevitable concepts.

Despite this rather depressing (to the PC, not him) outlook, Pharos is very curious about the PC’s experiences with life and emotions, developing a clearer idea of what it meant to be human through her. He grew very fond of her over time, even eventually taking to calling her ‘my dearest.’ With her (because he can’t be seen by anyone else), he’s generally very friendly and willing to answer questions... provided you ask the correct ones.

Because the PC is the only one who can see him, Pharos is often very lonely. This doesn't come through but so often because he cherishes his time with the PC, but he goes so far before he leaves as to call their friendship a 'miracle'. He truly enjoys the little time they have to converse, and treasures the memories he has with her. In a way, this combination between his curiosity, friendliness, and loneliness explains a lot about the character he becomes in Ryoji, who goes out of his way to talk to new people and deeply values the friendships he forms. However, even at the end when he recovers all of his memories of what's to come, he shows very little in the way of remorse, focusing on how much he cared for PC in contrast to the fact that he was going to destroy her world. This could indicate little care for anyone outside of his personal social circle (small as it is), instead mourning the loss of a friendship than a mass loss of life.
Any differences:
Luckily for Phillip, he’s actually human and therefore has a pretty solid grasp on human emotion. This makes him much less creepy and, since he’s in elementary school, much less likely to strike up casual conversations about death. He doesn’t know much about the idea of ‘fate,’ but he might be a little less likely to hold onto it like he did in canon.

He’s still very curious, still very friendly, and still pretty cryptic if you don’t ask him the right questions- he treats it as a game. Like many children, Phillip had a hard time getting used to sleeping alone in a dark room, but not because he’s scared of the dark. Actually, he kinds of likes it. He’s more afraid of being lonely, which is why the teasing he does get at bothers him so much.

Overall, the main difference between Pharos and Phillip is that Phillip is a normal kid. He likes dinosaurs and cartoons and playing pretend. Pharos most definitely was not.
Abilities:
Aside from showing up in the PC’s room in the dead of night, Pharos shows no overt powers during the course of the game. However, at the canon point I am taking him from, all the seperate Shadows are now joined with him so he theoretically should be able to transform into Death, and potentially the Nyx Avatar though people would have to want the end of the world for that to happen. Death’s powers are also unknown, but they are probably similiar to that of Thanatos. Because he is a more powerful Shadow, he also should be able to summon lesser ones. He is also incapable of being killed by anyone but the PC, and even then it would only kill his form, not Death itself.
Roleplay Sample – Third Person:
Phillip had been pretty ‘out of it’ (Alexandria’s term for it) ever since he went into her room around midnight or so to tell her something about a week ago. It wasn’t like she’d been mad at him, she was still up, but she’d said he’d looked really weird and kind of dazed and then complained about having a headache. She blamed it on him being up when he wasn’t supposed to have been and getting tired, but he’d been fine when he’d gone in...

And then there was the number. He didn’t know where it came from, really. It was just kind of there, in his head. And whatever he remembered, only he couldn’t have remembered it because he didn’t know the girl he saw. Even if she did seem familiar. She couldn’t be familiar if he didn’t know her, right?

Still, he hadn’t gotten over it, and everyone was noticing something now. His teachers scolded him for not paying attention, his parents were worried that he seemed unfocused, and now even his teammates and ‘castmates’ were talking about it. He didn’t like that at all. What could he do about it?

Phillip sat at his desk, kicking his feet back and forth staring blankly at his homework as he thought. His dad had suggested maybe writing down whatever was bothering him and throwing it away so it wouldn’t bother him any more. It sounded kind of dumb to him, but maybe it was worth a shot.

So, Phillip flipped to the next page of his notebook, making sure he wouldn’t tear out anything important when he was done, and began to write the number down.

Roleplay Sample - Network:
[The post is made from a page in a school notebook, with the scratchy handwriting of a child. There’s a little arrow drawn from the top of the writing to something above it- presumably, where the number to connect was written.]

Dad said if I had something that was stuck in my head, I should write it down to let it go. It’s not working and now my notebook is doing something weird.

[There’s another arrow drawn to the side, where Phillip sees the other network postings. After a moment...]

Can other people see this?

Any Questions? Because of Pharos’s powers being so vague, I just want to make sure they’re things I could draw from.
